The WinterWarm Project
Children are stood in traffic, hands pulled into their sleeves as an alternative fashion to gloves, their sleeves white with snow. They run, many of them, after cars. Their faces appear at half misty windows, shuddering and begging, Khyrat Bedeh, their breath frozen on their lips…

The WinterWarm Project is a non-profit, knit-for-charity organisation collecting hand knitted and crocheted garments to be distributed in Afghanistan by Save The Children Sweden-Norway in Kabul.
Our mission is to provide as much warm clothing as possible - hats, socks, scarves, jumpers, shawls, and also blankets - in order to help those in need survive the harsh Afghanistan winter, in which 100s of lives are lost each year due to extreme weather.
You will find more information about why this project is so important on our Winters In Afghanistan page.
This is our first year of operation and we are seeking as many volunteers as possible to help. We are not asking for your money; just for a little of your time and your creativity. If you would like to join us, to knit or crochet for the people of Afghanistan, please see How You Can Help.
Because in Afghanistan, your knitting really can save lives.
